- Worked in the round from the bottom up
- Raglan
- V-neck
- Cardigan (this means I'll be cutting down the center front- first time for me!)
- Afterthought Pockets
- Elbow Patches (to emphasize the ugliness)
- Oversized
- Long twisted rib for cuffs, button band done in garter stitch
GAH!
SO VERY UGLY!!
For the V-neck I had originally planned to knit up to the V point, and then start working back and forth. But since I'm going to cut it down the center anyways, I decided to go ahead and employ a bit of technique taken from Wool Gathering #12. (Did I ever mention I love my copy of The Opinionated Knitter, acquired at a mere $4 from my local bookstore?)
The way the technique works is you mark the center 3 stitches and, at the point where you want your V to start, you go ahead and start doing your decreases- one before and one after those center stitches every other round until you've decreased about 6 inches worth. This gives it "A pigeon-chested effect" which, upon cutting, will "fall into an elegant V."
Am I freaking MEOWING in this picture?!! What IS that face? Anyways, you can see the decreases and that's what counts. .... ....Right? |
There you have it: The Ugly Sweater is progressing.
Well, at least you will be able to practice all of your technique. And it will be a great sweater for wearing around the house when it is cold!
